How does CLA help with Fat Burning?

By Michael J. Porter, Jr., CHT.

Q: How does CLA help with Fat Burning?

Sources of CLAA: Conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) is a fatty acid found in meat, cheese and dairy products. Almost every month scientists publish a new study showing it either breaks down fat or prevents new fat formulation. CLA in creases the activity of an enzyme called lipoprotein lipase, which breaks down fat. Animals and humans given CLA supplements lost body weight provided the dosage was high enough (humans = 4.5 grams; 80 percent CLA). In a review of literature, researchers from North Carolina State University concluded CLA activates genes that trigger fat cell death, shrink fat cells, or speed up metabolism.     (Obesity Rev. 6:247-258, 2005)
